Sir Sir Michael Parkinson has been named as the next President of cricket charity Lord's Taverners, replacing former England cricket captain Chris Cowdrey at the start of 2015.
The TV and radio presenter joins a list of sporting and entertainment personalities in the Lord's Taverners presidential seat, including fellow broadcasters Sir Terry Wogan and the late Sir David Frost. Parkinson said 'It's reassuring in my 80th year that there are people who still back me to be able to stand up and make a toast without spilling my drink. In cricketing terms to become President of the Lord's Taverners is the next best thing'.
